Exempt Position Summary:
The Corporate Accountant position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the overall fiscal management of LHA. The Corporate Accountant will be responsible for general ledger maintenance, financial statement preparation, budgeting, audits, and payroll.Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration (25%)- Prepare and process payroll for approximately 75 employees across two organizations.
- Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. General Accounting & Financial Management (25%)
- Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Monitor and reconcile interfund balances.
- Assist with bank administration functions and interfund transfers.
- Collaborate across Operations, Development, and other departments to resolve and prevent accounting errors.
- Provide detailed financial oversight for newly acquired properties and properties undergoing rehabilitation. Financial Reporting & Reconciliation (20%)
- Prepare, analyze, and reconcile financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare and submit required financial reports to regulatory agencies.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records and reporting. Budgeting & Financial Planning (10%)
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Support organizational decision-making through financial analysis and reporting. Compliance, Audit & Regulatory Reporting (10%)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations related to public housing and affordable housing programs.
- Coordinate and prepare documentation for annual audits.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies. Leadership, Support & Process Improvement (10%)
- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff and other departments regarding financial procedures and best practices.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance financial operations, internal controls, and organizational efficiency.
- Promote adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Supervisory Duties:
None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and fund accounting principles.
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of HUD regulations and affordable housing finance is a plus.
