Full Job Description Description:
Conval is the industry leader in Severe Service Valves, dedicated to providing the highest quality products with exceptional durability and longevity. We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accounting & Assistant Controller professional to support our financial operations and manufacturing cost analysis. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate product costing for our valve manufacturing operations to ensure proper pricing, profitability analysis, and financial reporting. The position will also provide support to the Controller during month-end close and external/internal audit activities. Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Analysis Analyze and determine true manufacturing costs per valve, including labor, materials, overhead, and operational expenses Evaluate production levels and inventory strategies to optimize manufacturing efficiency while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory Review and monitor product margins and profitability Partner with operations, engineering, and purchasing teams to validate costing assumptions Partner closely with Sales to support pricing decisions based on accurate product costing and margin analysis Identify high-margin products and provide insights to support strategic sales initiatives Assist in monitoring inventory valuation, cost trends, and manufacturing variances Financial & Accounting Support Cross-train with and provide backup support to the Controller during month-end close and financial reporting processes Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial analysis Assist with audits by preparing documentation and responding to requests Help maintain internal controls and accounting procedures Support inventory accounting and cycle count processes
Requirements:
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with standard costing and inventory accounting required Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Advanced Excel skills required ERP system experience - Infor-Visual preferred AI/Codex experience a plus Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to communicate effectively across departments Experience supporting audits and month-end close processes preferred Preferred Experience Manufacturing industry experience Experience with engineered products or industrial equipment manufacturing Knowledge of BOMs (Bills of Materials), labor routings, and overhead allocation methodologies What We Offer Opportunity to work with an industry-leading manufacturer Collaborative and team-oriented environment Competitive compensation and benefits package Long-term career growth potential
