Job Description

Vaco is working with a nonprofit organization serving people across Fairfield County. They are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join the team reporting to the CFO and managing a small team. About the Role The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial reports while ensuring the integrity and accuracy of accounting records in accordance with GAAP. This role oversees the accounting close process, supports audits, and partners with leadership by providing timely financial insights. Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, general ledger, and journal entries
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Monitor fixed assets and capital grants activity
  • Prepare financial reports for leadership and the Board of Directors
  • Maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures
  • Complete annual 1099 reporting
  • Collaborate closely with external auditors
  • Support additional accounting initiatives as needed Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of GAAP accounting experience - nonprofit experience highly preferred/
  • Strong Excel and financial systems proficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to confidentiality and teamwork Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
