Job Description

We're looking for an Operations Project Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with project teams to keep financials accurate, organized, and ahead of schedule. Position Overview We're seeking a Project Accountant to support our Operations and Project Management teams on major electrical projects. You'll play a key role in managing project financials, preparing billing packages, tracking costs, and ensuring project teams have the information they need to stay ahead of schedule and budget. What You'll Do Project Financials & Cost Tracking Manage all financial activities for assigned projects, including billing, cost coding, change orders, and cash flow tracking. Maintain accurate and timely job cost data across labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and purchase orders. Track commitments, accruals, and forecasted spend across the project lifecycle. Prepare cost reports, financial summaries, and variance explanations for Project Management leadership. Identify discrepancies early and escalate when needed to keep the project on track. Billing & Documentation Prepare monthly billing packages, including GMP billing when applicable, ensuring accuracy and customer-required backup. Manage subcontractor billing, lien releases, and contractual documentation. Track change orders from identification to full billing. Maintain complete financial documentation for audits, compliance, and internal reviews. Collaboration & Communication Work directly with Project Managers, field teams, and Operations leadership to review financial performance and support decision making. Serve as the financial point-of-contact for customers, auditors, and external partners. Coordinate with Estimating and Preconstruction to understand project budgets and cost structures. Participate in project meetings and support financial follow-up items. Administrative & Operational Support Support PM teams with organizational needs, reporting, and financial workflows. Participate in jobsite visits to validate costs, quantities, and inventory as needed. Assist in project closeout with financial reconciliation and documentation. What You'll Need Qualifications Experience in construction accounting or job cost accounting (electrical contracting experience highly valued). Experience with Textura payment management portals, subcontractor compliance portals, or similar owner/GC billing systems Experience preparing AIA pay applications or similar progress billing formats strongly preferred. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Viewpoint Vista or a similar construction ERP (Vista strongly preferred). Strong analytical, mathematical, and financial tracking skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Skills & Competencies Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting large and complex projects. High level of organization and initiative. Ability to identify issues early and propose solutions. Positive, professional attitude and comfort working cross-functionally.
