Job Description:
Our client is a rapidly growing real estate investment asset manager specializing in residential mortgage and structured credit investments. Following a year of significant expansion tripling in size to more than $1.5 billion in assets under management. The firm is continuing to build out its institutional-grade finance and accounting team. The Accountant will play a key role in fund and management accounting, financial data analytics, payroll + real estate tax compliance. This is a hands-on role well-suited for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys building, improving, and scaling processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and intellectually curious, with strong technical accounting skills and an interest in investment and mortgage-related accounting. Responsibilities:
Analyze internal financial data to drive strategic decision making, budgeting, forecasting, + profitability Record and review accounting activity related to investment portfolios and financing structures, fixed assets + depreciation schedules, variance analysis Perform month-end close activities and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting Reconcile general ledger, cash, and third-party accounts Maintain accounting records and supporting schedules Assist with preparation of financial statements and related disclosures Coordinate with third-party service providers, including mortgage servicers and administrators Support external audit and real estate tax reporting processes Assist with accounts payable and cash management activities Contribute to process improvement initiatives and special projects Partner with the CFO, Controller, and broader finance team on ad hoc requests
Qualifications:
BS degree in accounting 2+ Experience with Real estate fund accounting, hedge fund, PE, credit products Experience working in public accounting, tax, and financial data + reporting Preference for CPA/public accounting background Working knowledge of mortgage loans is preferred Proficiency in Excel + QuickBooks
