This position is designed as a developmental accounting role. The successful candidate may enter with a stronger background in either financial accounting or cost/operations accounting. Through structured training, hands-on experience, and mentorship, the Staff Accountant will develop proficiency across both disciplines. The Staff Accountant will also develop strong functional knowledge of CSI 10, progressing beyond transaction processing to understand how business activity flows through the ERP system and ultimately impacts the company's financial statements. Primary Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Month-End Close Prepare assigned journal entries, accruals, prepaid expense entries, and other month-end accounting activity. Prepare and maintain assigned balance sheet account reconciliations. Research and resolve reconciling items and unusual account activity. Support preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting. Maintain supporting accounting schedules and documentation. Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and account reconciliation. Develop increasing ownership of assigned portions of the monthly close process. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting Develop an understanding of the company's manufacturing processes and how operational activity is reflected in the accounting records. Support inventory reconciliations, adjustments, and related month-end accounting. Assist with analysis of material, labor, overhead, purchase price, and other manufacturing variances. Support standard cost maintenance and related accounting activities. Investigate inventory and manufacturing accounting discrepancies. Work directly with operations personnel when necessary to understand the underlying business activity driving accounting results. Develop the ability to connect physical manufacturing activity with its financial impact.
CSI 10 / ERP
Learn to efficiently navigate relevant CSI 10 modules, screens, inquiries, and reports. Execute assigned daily and month-end accounting processes within CSI 10. Understand how transactions move through CSI 10 and ultimately impact the general ledger and financial statements. Reconcile relevant subsidiary information to the general ledger. Investigate transaction and posting discrepancies. Develop the ability to troubleshoot routine accounting and process issues. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and use of the system. Prior CSI 10 experience is not required. Experience with an integrated ERP system, particularly within a manufacturing environment, is preferred. Financial Analysis & Problem Solving Assist with monthly account and financial statement variance analysis. Investigate unusual transactions, balances, trends, and operating results. Develop the ability to identify the operational activity underlying financial results. Provide clear supporting analysis and explanations to the Controller. Progress from reporting what occurred to understanding and explaining why it occurred. Audit, ESOP & External Support Prepare assigned schedules and supporting documentation for the annual financial statement audit. Respond to routine auditor requests within assigned areas. Support preparation of financial information required for the company's annual ESOP valuation process. Assist with financial schedules and information requests from the company's ESOP valuation firm, third-party administrator (TPA), trustee, and other external advisors. Develop an understanding of the annual ESOP process and the accounting function's responsibilities within that process. Support other external financial, tax, banking, and compliance information requests as assigned. Internal Controls & Process Improvement Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Maintain appropriate documentation supporting accounting transactions and reconciliations. Identify process breakdowns, control concerns, and recurring accounting issues. Recommend practical improvements to accounting processes and controls. Participate in efforts to standardize, simplify, and automate repetitive accounting activities. Team & Cross-Functional Responsibilities Develop an understanding of AP, AR, credit, and related subledger processes. Provide accounting support and backup where appropriate. Work collaboratively with operations and other functions to investigate and resolve accounting issues. Develop an understanding of the business beyond the accounting department. Participate actively in professional development, cross-training, and technical training opportunities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field preferred. Approximately 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience preferred. Manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Experience may be weighted toward either financial accounting, general ledger, reconciliation, close, and financial reporting; or cost accounting, inventory, manufacturing accounting, and operational finance. Candidates are not expected to have mastered both disciplines upon hire. The company will provide development and experience in the complementary discipline. Prior ERP experience preferred; CSI 10 experience is not required. Strong Excel and general systems capabilities. Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles. CPA or CMA designation is not required. Interest in continued professional development is encouraged. Key Responsibilities Strong accounting fundamentals. Salary Range:
$62k to $78k
