Staff Accountant Location:
Shelton, CT (On-site)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with half-day
Fridays Compensation:
$75,000-$91,000 annually

Temp-to-Hire We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Staff Accountant to join a growing healthcare organization in Shelton, CT. This role is open due to the retirement of a long-tenured accountant and is critical to maintaining the company's financial operations and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing accounting processes independently while meeting important deadlines. This position offers an excellent opportunity to make an immediate impact and grow into a long-term role. Key Responsibilities Process and oversee payroll utilizing accounting and payroll systems Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable Maintain the General Ledger Prepare and post journal entries Perform account reconciliations Complete month-end close activities in QuickBooks Online Prepare financial reports and maintain accurate accounting records Ensure compliance with accounting deadlines and internal controls Prepare pension reporting Coordinate workers' compensation audit preparation Assist with pension and compliance audits Maintain organized supporting documentation for audits Monitor regulatory and compliance requirements Partner with HR and leadership on payroll and compliance matters Identify process improvements and support operational continuity Qualifications Required Experience with QuickBooks Online Payroll processing experience Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Paycor experience Healthcare industry experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field EB-2772327784
