O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT seeks a Junior Accountant to join our team. We are a highly respected leader in our field and ranked as one of the top construction firms in the Northeast. The Junior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting and finance activities, assist with month-end close, prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, and provide financial reporting support. This candidate should have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including accrual accounting, the purchase and sales cycle, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and cost of goods sold.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations, schedules, and variance analysis Support preparation of financial statements and related reporting packages Maintain fixed asset records and prepare depreciation schedules Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns and related reports Assist with bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and financial support as needed Research variances, resolve accounting discrepancies, and support continuous process improvement Provide administrative and accounting support to the finance team as needed
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field required; bachelor's degree preferred 2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or general ledger experience Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and basic financial reporting concepts Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting month-end close Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with accounting systems Experience with JD Edwards or QuickBooks is a plus Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management skills Ability to research issues, solve problems, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Please note we are unable to provide immigration sponsorship for this position.
