Job Description

Senior Cost Accountant Position Summary Our client is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join its Finance team and play a critical role in managing, analyzing, and improving product and inventory costing within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for product costing, variance analysis, work order costing, and inventory valuation accuracy while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review month-end journal entries related to all cost transactions. Reconcile inventory balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules. Maintain and analyze product costing, including labor, overhead, and machine rates. Analyze manufacturing variances, including material, labor, overhead, purchase price, and production variances, propose solutions. Ensure accurate work and production costing. Monitor inventory valuation, WIP, and manufacturing absorption accounts to ensure accuracy. Serve as a key finance resource for costing, inventory, and production processes within the organization's ERP system. Review cost structures, inventory transactions, and financial postings to ensure accurate financial reporting. Ensure manufacturing costs are accurately reflected in financial reporting. Support internal and external audits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Three or more years of cost accounting experience within a construction/manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of standard costing, and inventory accounting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including analysis of large datasets and account reconciliations. Strong documentation and organizational skills with experience supporting audits and financial reviews. Ability to challenge data, identify trends, and drive corrective action
