Job Description

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations for a boutique law firm in Washington, District of Columbia. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate billing, managing payables and receivables, and helping produce reliable month-end financial information across multiple entities. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable handling accounting tasks in a services environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee vendor invoice processing and coordinate timely disbursements with appropriate internal contacts.
  • Record incoming payments, apply cash receipts accurately, and maintain current accounts receivable records.
  • Review corporate card activity each month and prepare the necessary entries to reflect expenses correctly.
  • Process full cycle accounts payable vendor invoices
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and contribute to cash tracking and short-term cash reporting.
  • Administer billing activities for several consulting practice groups, including preparing draft invoices for review.
  • Work with practice leaders and other stakeholders to incorporate billing updates and resolve invoice revisions efficiently.
  • Monitor pending billing approvals and follow up to keep invoicing on schedule.
  • Issue finalized client invoices for monthly review and support accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.   • At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant, accounting clerk, or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoice processing.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and comfort learning or using billing platforms such as Aderant.
  • Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail in financial recordkeeping.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring monthly deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and basic month-end accounting processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
