SUMMARY:
Assists in all phases of the organization's Federal, State and Local tax compliance and planning activities with a focus on Federal Compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Emphasis on Federal Tax
- Prepares of Federal and State income tax and franchise tax returns for Partnerships, C Corporations, S Corporations, Trusts and individuals.
- Creates tax budgets and projections.
- Research tax and strategic planning opportunities related to proposed acquisitions, including ownership structures and reporting requirements.
- Develops tax analysis for proposed transactions.
- Prepares personal property tax filings.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
- Provides tax advice and compliance direction as needed
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive knowledge of standard Accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Proactive and deadline oriented.
- Multi-state tax preparation experience helpful.
- Experience in Real Estate and/or Construction industry preferred.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. Master's Degree in Accounting or Tax preferred. Minimum of four (4) years of Federal and State income tax preparation experience in a large corporate setting or accounting firm.
Computer skills including:
internet, e-mail, (MS Outlook) MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word. Proficiency in network platform based income tax preparation software. CERTIFICATES and
LICENSES
None.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to draft reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management level employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems solving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
