A growing insurance/product-based organization is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant / Commission Accountant to join its accounting and operations team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with commission structures, reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. This person will play a key role in supporting commission accounting, agent payout tracking, month-end close, reporting, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is highly accurate, analytical, energetic, and comfortable partnering cross-functionally with operations and leadership.Responsibilities:
Manage commission accounting processes, including calculations, adjustments, reconciliations, chargebacks, and payout tracking Support 1099 contractor / agent compensation processes, including advances, recoveries, and related reporting Reconcile internal data against external statements and resolve discrepancies Prepare commission, revenue, expense, and profitability reports for leadership review Assist with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis Analyze product profitability, expenses, commissions, and overall P&L impact Help improve reporting tools, workflows, and accounting processes Partner with operations and leadership on forecasting, analytics, and process structure Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team membersQualifications:
3-5+ years of accounting experience Commission accounting experience strongly preferred Experience with 1099 contractor, agent, or sales commission payouts preferred Strong Excel and reporting skills Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, and financial analysis Ability to work with large sets of data and identify discrepancies QuickBooks experience preferred Product costing, COGS, or profitability analysis exposure is a plus - not required Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through Ability to work independently while also collaborating with operations and leadershipIdeal Profile:
The ideal candidate is someone who is not just processing numbers, but can understand how commissions, expenses, payouts, and product performance impact the overall business. This person should be comfortable creating and maintaining reports, improving processes, mentoring junior team members, and bringing structure to a growing accounting function.Compensation:
