Job Description

Accounting Manager / Senior Accountant Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager / Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys solving problems, working directly in the details, improving processes, and helping develop others. The successful candidate will have strong experience across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close , along with advanced Excel skills and hands-on Sage Intacct experience. Key Responsibilities Participate in and support the complete monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, balance sheet accounts, and supporting schedules. Perform detailed customer account reconciliations from invoice through payment. Research and resolve unapplied or misapplied cash, billing discrepancies, outstanding balances, and other AR issues. Support the full Accounts Payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, vendor accounts, payments, and reconciliations. Research accounting discrepancies and independently determine appropriate resolutions. Analyze accounting activity and ensure transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger. Serve as a knowledgeable resource for Sage Intacct . Use Excel extensively to analyze data, perform reconciliations, research discrepancies, and improve accounting processes. Identify root causes of accounting issues rather than simply correcting individual transactions. Evaluate accounting workflows and recommend improvements to efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls. Document and improve accounting procedures and processes. Provide training, guidance, and support to accounting team members, including an AP Specialist. Partner with internal departments, customers, vendors, auditors, and leadership. Identify practical opportunities to use technology, automation, and AI to improve accounting workflows and efficiency. Qualifications Strong hands-on accounting experience in a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, Assistant Controller, or similar capacity. Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and GAAP. Hands-on general ledger and month-end close experience. Strong Accounts Receivable, cash application, and customer account reconciliation skills. Solid understanding of the complete Accounts Payable lifecycle. Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Hands-on Sage Intacct experience required. Intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills required. Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to independently research and resolve accounting discrepancies. Experience training, mentoring, or developing accounting staff is preferred. Strong understanding of accounting processes and internal controls. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Self-directed with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Comfortable learning new technology and troubleshooting basic system or workflow issues. Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus but not required. Excel Skills Candidates should have practical experience using:
