This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and can work independently with minimal supervision. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly financial statements, managing project cost accounting, supporting construction-specific accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with
U.S. GAAP.
The successful candidate will have strong experience with QuickBooks Online and preferably possess construction industry accounting experience. As a key member of our team, this individual will play an important role in building scalable accounting processes as the company grows. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & General Accounting Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all accounting records. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including: Balance Sheet Profit & Loss Statement Statement of Cash Flows Perform monthly account reconciliations. Record and review journal entries. Prepare month-end and year-end closing schedules. Ensure financial records comply with
U.S. GAAP.
Assist external CPA firms with tax filings and annual reviews. Construction Accounting Track project costs and maintain accurate job cost records. Monitor project budgets and analyze cost variances. Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
Calculate and monitor:
Overbillings Underbillings Percentage-of-completion reporting Analyze project profitability and provide management reporting. Reconcile project costs between accounting records and project management systems. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Review vendor invoices and ensure proper coding. Manage subcontractor payments and compliance documentation. Process owner billings and customer invoices. Track collections and assist with cash flow forecasting. Reconcile vendor statements and customer balances. Cash Management Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations. Monitor cash balances and liquidity requirements. Assist management with cash flow projections. Systems & Process Improvement Maintain and optimize QuickBooks Online. Support integration and reconciliation with Procore and other construction software. Assist with implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and internal controls. Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency and reporting accuracy. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience. Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
Ability to independently prepare:
Balance Sheets Profit & Loss Statements Bank Reconciliations Accrual-based financial statements Thorough understanding of: Accrual accounting
U.S. GAAP
Financial statement preparation Experience working with minimal supervision. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Construction industry accounting experience.
