Summary:
Individuals in the job are responsible for assisting Tropical Financial Credit Union in the achievement of its purpose of guiding members successfully through the financial marketplace . The Senior Staff Accountant assists the Finance/Accounting Manager with the most complex departmental operations, general ledger accounting, and financial analysis. Incumbent must be results oriented, able to work independently, and be capable of maintaining the smooth operation and continuity of critical finance/accounting functions and systems in Managers absence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. § Provide service that meets the Service Standards defined by Tropical Financial Credit Union and achieve annual goals that are established through the Performance Management Process. §
General Ledger Accounting :
Responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting, including; subsidiary ledger reconciliation, posting entries, maintaining accruals, and general ledger close. §
Financial Reporting:
Prepare income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and other financial reports for senior management and board of directors. §
Financial Analysis:
Prepare numerous varied financial analyses, including; organizational and product profitability, new branches, mortgage servicing, indirect lending, loss provisions and reserves. §
Fixed Asset Accounting:
Manage the setup and maintain assets on 3rd party software, download entries to general ledger, and reconcile accounts. §
Credit Cards:
Responsible for all credit cards daily settlements and payments posting and reconciliation of all credit card GLs. Prepare monthly credit card analysis. §
Incentive Calculation:
Prepare monthly incentives calculation report for Consumer Lending. §
Secondary Marketing:
Oversee the delivery of mortgages sold to Fannie and Fredie. Includes tracking outstanding loan commitments, researching upload errors, and ensuring the accuracy of the promissory notes. Prepare monthly reports and revise the profit margin rules in EPPS at the direction of Sr Management. § EFT/ATM settlements: Responsible for balancing complex ATM networks and EFT settlements; researching outages and reconciling related general ledger accounts. Guides and directs proper application of procedures and policies by branch staff to ensure quality service and maintain security controls. §
Audits/Examinations:
Prepare reports and provide detailed information to auditors and examiners. §
Support:
Provide financial, accounting, and technical support to all departments. §
Problem Solving:
Proactively identify and resolve issues before any negative impact to the credit union. §
Process Improvements:
Assist other employees in developing process improvements that can dramatically improve efficiency and productivity. §
Computer Systems:
Install, setup, and maintain sophisticated software programs such as general ledger, fixed assets, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, wire transfer, ACH, and various internet applications. Maintain sophisticated databases of knowledge and information. Be able to instantly provide varied and complex business data and reports. §
Internal Controls:
Maintain accounting controls to prevent fraud or illegal activities. §
Disaster Preparedness:
Maintain records, systems, and procedures to ensure critical accounting functions continue uninterrupted during an emergency. §
Compliance:
o BSA Compliance - every employee is required to uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions within TFCU will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department. o In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Departments. o Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending and Credit Card Act. o Comply with all TFCU policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations. § Performs other duties as required with or without accommodation.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Highly motivated self-starter with strong desire to learn and grow in position. Dedication and determination to work hard and solve difficult problems under demanding circumstance. Education and/or Experience Four-year college degree in Finance or Accounting. Five or more years of "Bank" Finance/Accounting/Operations experience required.
