In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise will help maintain the accuracy and integrity of our financial data, contributing to the overall success of our organization. - Creates and maintains accounting and financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures and internal controls.
- Prepare financial statements, monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger and categorizes GL activity.
- Posts journal entries to general ledger.
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; oversees accounts receivable collections.
- Maintains the fixed asset listing and calculates depreciation.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Back-up to payroll processing and preparing necessary payroll reports.
- Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures.
- Conduct month/year-end closures, including supporting schedules for month/year-end periods.
- Assists with the bank compliance reporting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures, with ability to train others in related practices and procedures. Education & Experience
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- BA or BS in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in an accounting/finance role
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting software.
