Position Title:
Senior Accountant Position Summary The Senior Accountant supports the financial operations of a custom sign manufacturing company, with primary responsibility for general ledger accounting, month-end close, review of WIP transactions, inventory valuation, GL reconciliations, and supporting workpapers. This position works closely with Accounting, Purchasing, Project Management, Production, and Operations to ensure accurate reporting of manufacturing costs, inventory, work-in-process, and project profitability. Education and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing, construction, or job-costing experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory valuation, work-in-process, and manufacturing overhead. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and V lookup functions. Experience with Epicor Kinetic, other manufacturing ERP, or advanced accounting software. Experience with multi-company, intercompany transactions and intercompany reconciliations. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Public Accounting experience a plus. Key Responsibilities Perform month-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, adjusting entries, and supporting schedules. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, review general ledger activity for accuracy and proper classification, and research and resolve discrepancies. Ensure appropriate month-end cutoff for inventory receipts, usage, transfers, and completed production. Prepare monthly schedules to support GL balances, budget-to-actual and prior-period variance analyses, and financial information to support management decision-making. Maintain fixed asset schedules, record additions, disposals, and depreciation, and reconcile fixed asset records to the general ledger. Reconcile inventory records to the general ledger; assist with cycle counts and annual physical inventories; research inventory variances, scrap, obsolete materials, and adjustments. Maintain and analyze work in process for custom sign manufacturing projects, including direct material, labor, subcontractor, freight, installation, and manufacturing overhead costs. Analyze gross margin, profitability by project, customer, department, or product category. Review received goods not invoiced and shipped not invoiced reports for accuracy and address discrepancies. Assist with accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, ERP/reporting enhancements, audits, tax filings, and other compliance requirements. Provide training or guidance to A/R and A/P accounting staff as needed and identify opportunities to improve the accounting processes.
