Job Description
Role:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions such as: prepare monthly journal entries, prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, maintain company purchasing card system, submit annual Florida Unclaimed Property tax return, assist with the annual audit, and other special projects related to financial management.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- MBA or CPA preferred; both may be substituted by experience under a CPA or degreed Accountant
- Minimum of two (2) years' accounting experience, preferably in healthcare
- Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience with general ledger and related subsystems
- Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); 10-key by touch proficient
- Strong customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, ability to work with a team, critical thinking, organizational skills, computer skills appropriate to the position, knowledge and competency in accounting and analysis, and knowledge of regulatory requirements appropriate for the position
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, exercising some degree of discretion and independent judgment

Job Responsibilities:
- Assists the Accounting Manager in providing financial statements to Management and the Board.
- Reviews and imports patient claims files into the Companies' GL system.
- Prepares monthly journal entries, financial supplemental schedules, account reconciliations and roll forwards for assigned GL accounts.
- Reviews all cash manager donor payment transactions and Development journal entries for accuracy; works closely with Development personnel to ensure accurate coding.
- Reviews prepaid invoices/supporting documentation and updates corresponding prepaid worksheet.
- Prepares and submits Florida Unclaimed Property tax return.
- Gathers/prepares required data for annual Medicare cost reports.
- Assists with the annual audit and with the review of the audited financial statements.
- Maintains Company purchasing card system; sets up and trains new users and provides follow-up as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
