Type:
full-time Tropical Shipping in West Palm Beach, Florida is seeking a Senior Accountant! The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing general ledger account analyses, as well as internal and external financial reports. This individual will support the development, documentation, and implementation of accounting processes and controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information. The role will also conduct GAAP research to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for proposed transactions and provide financial analysis and accounting support for new services, initiatives, and investment opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the set up, documentation and implementation of joint service and agency accounting functions. Ensures all revenues and costs are appropriately billed and received. Works with and is company accounting liaison to joint service or agency personnel. Resolves issues related to invoicing, billing, or other accounting actions. Develops, enhances, and prepares managerial accounting and financial reports that support organizational structures and management of the business. Analyzes and evaluates financial results, prepares reports on financial results for senior management and makes recommendations on findings. Coordinates with Human Resource Dept to receive the required monthly and year-end information from Vanguard to complete the RSP Financial Statements and notes for the annual audit. Assists in accounting evaluation and implementation pertaining to new business, including receivable, payable, and reporting functions. Assists in the evaluation, development, and implementation or upgrade of accounting software, as required. Assists in the preparation of standard operating procedures and manuals for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Performs all other assigned duties.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting
Experience:
Five years general accounting experience.
Licenses:
Valid driver's license

Office Environment - Manual dexterity to perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. Ability to bend or stoop to retrieve lower shelf files. Ability to reach overhead to retrieve upper shelf files. ability to sit 1/3 - 2/3 of day. Ability to travel in various modes of transportation (e.g. automobile, airplane, train etc.) Occasionally exposed to outside elements while traveling and field operations.
