Job Description

Job Summary Flint RiverQuarium and Thronateeska Hertigate Center are looking for a motivated professional to join our administration team. The lead staff accountant is responsible for essential accounting functions, administrative and logistical tasks related to daily financial operations for both facilities. The Lead Staff Accountant works with all departments and develops positive working relationships with departmental leadership and staff. The LSA must be a proactive team player, effective communicator, organized, adaptable to changing situations and settings, and able to meet department deadlines and objectives. Responsibilities Prepare timely deposits of earned and contributed revenue and post to proper general ledger accounts. Review and enter purchase orders, credit card transactions, and vendor invoices in accounting system. Maintain financial documents filing system and retention. Process bi-weekly payroll, payroll reports, and employee reimbursements. On board and process new hires. Prepare monthly state & local sales tax & lodging fee returns. Assist with compiling data for 1099 reporting, E-Verify and vendor reporting as directed. Assist with budget process as directed. Assist with audit and tax return preparations as directed. Provide monthly and periodic financial reports as directed. Support special projects and other initiatives as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma and Associate of Accounting degree or related field, or five years progressive experience in accounting or business field, or appropriate combination of education and experience. Knowledge of standard office procedures and familiarity with computer and audio/visual equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products. Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks accounting platform. Knowledge of retail sales and inventory controls. Ability to learn and become proficient on point of sale and other cloud-based applications. Ability to analyze problems and select proper corrective action. Skilled in organization, attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and multitasking. Ability to work in a team setting, interact courteously and respectfully with supervisors, fellow employees, volunteers, venue visitors, and the general public.
Pay:
$17.79 - $20.67 per hour
