Healthcare Accountant:
In this important role, the Healthcare Accountant will support the accounting department's daily operations and help ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.Responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting:
The Healthcare Accountant will prepare and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.Month-End Close:
Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.General Ledger Accounting:
The Healthcare Accountant will maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP.Healthcare Revenue Analysis:
Assist with monitoring patient revenue, reimbursement trends, and revenue cycle transactions.Account Reconciliations:
Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and other healthcare-related financial accounts.Compliance Support:
The Healthcare Accountant will help ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.Audit Support:
Coordinate schedules and documentation for internal and external audits and compliance reviews.Budgeting & Analysis:
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support leadership decision-making and operational planning.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with revenue cycle, operations, clinical departments, and finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Qualifications for theHealthcare Accountant Role:
To be successful as a Healthcare Accountant, you should bring:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification or CPA track preferred.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within healthcare, hospital, physician practice, or healthcare services environments.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement models, revenue cycle processes, or medical billing concepts is preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and support leadership initiatives as a Healthcare Accountant.
