Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to join the team in Covington, Louisiana on a Contract basis. This position will focus on strengthening the accuracy of cost reporting, identifying financial discrepancies, and supporting reliable accounting records across operational and manufacturing activities. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical judgment and a hands-on approach to reconciling transactions, evaluating allocations, and improving the integrity of financial data.
Responsibilities:
  • Examine historical accounting activity to identify variances, errors, and adjustment needs affecting cost and financial reporting.
  • Analyze accounts receivable and other balance sheet accounts to determine which amounts have not been properly assigned or distributed.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investigate outstanding items to ensure records are complete and accurate.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll allocations, and other accounting adjustments.
  • Review overhead balances and reclassify costs that should be assigned to jobs, work in progress, or other appropriate accounts.
  • Allocate salaries and wages accurately across jobs, departments, or cost centers in line with reporting requirements.
  • Consolidate and organize financial data within Sage 300 to support dependable cost analysis and account accuracy.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to assess accounting issues and help establish a stable financial position before future close activities resume.
