Job Summary:
The Special Revenue Accountant is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a office environment, overseen by the Director of Accounting, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount. All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Exempt Primary Function:
Ad hoc reporting. Review transactions. Review of expenses and revenues. Preparation of a variety of financial and statistical reports, statements, records, and claims. Assure compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations. Knowledge of methods, procedures and terminology used in accounting and auditing work. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques. Assists in the writing, updating, training and maintaining the district Grant Accounting Manual.

Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field, higher degree or CPA preferred. Two (2) years responsible experience in financial record-keeping, bookkeeping or accounting. Relevant experience in a school district is preferred. Excellent written and oral communication; computer, analytical, leadership, planning and organizational skills. The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Prepare, review or direct accounting entries (transactions and journals) related to special revenue funds (grants and local funds). Assisting Program Managers in the financial reporting and other administrative requirements of their grants/contracts. Maintain grant-related budgets within the financial accounting system. Prepare and submit grant drawdown requests. Compute, prepare and submit grant indirect cost. Assist with Local School Accounting including reviewing bank reconciliations and performing local school reviews Create and analyze special revenue status/accounting reports Assist in the maintenance of the Grant Accounting Handbook and training of grant managers. Assist in the maintenance of the Local School Procedures Manual and training of school bookkeepers Submit all grant-required completion reports. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. Applicants will be selected for interview. Please do not contact local schools.
