Job Description

Grow your career where operations meet the numbers. We are a grower, packer, and shipper of peaches and pecans, and we are investing in more detailed, decision-useful financial reporting. We created this Senior Accountant position to lead the day-to-day accounting work behind a new orchard block-level cost-accounting initiative. Working directly with the Controller and farm management, you will build the cost-allocation methodology, strengthen ERP data integrity and help turn activity in the field into reliable financial and management reporting. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role that combines accounting execution, process design, operational collaboration and analysis. Why you'll want this role This is a newly created position with meaningful ownership. You will help build a new costing and reporting framework rather than simply maintain a legacy model. You will work directly with the Controller and farm leaders, gain firsthand exposure to orchard operations and help establish processes that leadership will use to make better operating decisions. As the framework matures, the role is expected to expand into broader cost analysis and management reporting. What you'll do Own orchard block-level cost accounting in our ERP system, including source-data capture, coding, validation and reconciliation. Partner with farm management to align operational data with the financial records providing you with insight into what's happening in the orchard, not just the ledger. Develop and document cost-allocation methodologies, reporting structures, accounting procedures and supporting controls. Prepare block-level cost reports and investigate significant discrepancies or variances. Prepare journal entries and accruals and complete balance-sheet account reconciliations as part of a timely and accurate month-end and quarter-end close. Maintain fixed asset, depreciation, lease-accounting and roll-forward schedules. Own the inventory accounting and reconciliations. Identify opportunities to improve data integrity, documentation, internal controls and accounting processes. Support audit preparation and sales and use tax compliance. Provide periodic backup for treasury, accounts payable and payroll reconciliations. What you bring 4+ years of progressive accounting experience — agriculture, perennial crop or food production experience is a big plus Working knowledge of cost accounting, fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting and lease accounting. Understanding of U.S. GAAP and sound accounting-control practices. Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to work accurately with detailed operational and financial data. Strong documentation and process improvement instincts. Ability to collaborate effectively across finance, operations and farm management. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. Ready to put down roots? If you are an accountant who wants more than another close cycle—someone who wants to build a process, own the details and connect accounting with real-world operations—we want to hear from you. Apply today and tell us what interests you about building an operational cost-accounting framework from the ground up.
