Job Description

Job Summary The Staff Accountant is a hands-on team member position in a small office. The Staff Accountant will process customer invoices, manage accounts payable and process vendor payments, post cash receipts, prepare and distribute daily management reports, calculate monthly rebates, assist with journal entry postings, complete month end closing journal entries, assist with sales tax preparation, as well as assist with some human resource activities. The role reports to the Accounting Manager and General Manager/Controller. The company is a locally owned business with loyal team members. We are looking for someone to stay long-term in a close-knit working environment and assume more responsibility as assigned by the Accounting Manager and GM/Controller. A successful candidate will have multifunction experience and a willingness to roll up their sleeves. This is a working position.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Support month-end and year-end close process. Customer invoicing and collections. Complex contract end-customer invoicing. Process vendor invoices and audit against purchase orders and shipping documents., Export, manipulation, audit, and import of large data files associated with customer invoicing, and vendor accounts payable. Cross train and act as back-up for all department functions (invoicing, accounts payable, cash receipts and sales tax). Adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment, manages competing priorities and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
Qualifications:
Experience in an accounting or full bookkeeping role Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, sales tax Strong general ledger management Advanced knowledge of Excel (proficient in pivot tables and vlookups) Excellent numeracy skills combined with the ability to perform detailed account analysis and account reconciliation tasks accurately. Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while demonstrating strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Experience with Sage 100 or similar accounting system preferred Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
