Job DescriptionJob Description Staff / Underwriting Accountant Description

Completes general accounting functions, including research, report/spreadsheet preparation, and analysis.
Updates client/agent billing information in the underwriting system.
Applies payments to client accounts.
Researches and corrects payment issues (checks and credit cards).
Answers billing-related phone calls from clients/agents.
Prepares and analyzes accounting data by processing and interpreting accounts such as general ledgers and sub-ledgers.
Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries and reports.
Carries out ad hoc reports/assignments as needed.
Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal departments.
Other tasks as assigned by management. Qualifications
1-3 years accounting experience
General understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP
Experience using MS Excel and Word
Experience with QuickBooks is a plus
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
