pay applications, schedules of values, change orders, retainage, and supporting documentation Monitor project billing status and accounts receivable and partner with the appropriate teams to support timely collection Review subcontractor payment documentation, including invoices, lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and other required compliance documentation Help ensure subcontractor payments are appropriately supported and consistent with contract terms, project progress, and compliance requirements Assist with resolving billing, payment, cost coding, and project accounting discrepancies with project teams, customers, subcontractors, and vendors Project Closeout Manage the financial closeout process for assigned projects Ensure final billings, collections, subcontractor payments, retainage, change orders, commitments, and project costs are appropriately resolved before financial closeout Review final project profitability and investigate significant differences between original expectations and final results Ensure project accounting records and supporting documentation are complete and audit-ready Business Partnership & Process Improvement Develop strong working relationships with project managers, superintendents, operations leadership, subcontractors, and internal accounting teams Serve as a financial resource to project teams by helping them understand project costs, forecasts, margins, billing status, and financial risks Maintain an independent financial perspective when reviewing project forecasts and financial results and escalate significant risks or inconsistencies to the Controller Identify opportunities to improve project accounting, forecasting, WIP, billing, and closeout processes Assist with the implementation and ongoing use of the Company's enterprise ERP system, Sage Intacct, and related construction systems Support external audits, surety and bonding requests, tax return preparation, and other financial reporting requirements by providing accurate project financial information Compile supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting and audits Review the work of and mentor junior project accounting staff as assigned Collaborate with Operations, Corporate Accounting, and other cross-functional teams to improve consistency and financial visibility across the organization Take on additional responsibilities and special projects to support the Company's continued growth Qualifications 5+ years of project or construction accounting experience, ideally within commercial roofing, construction, or specialty contracting Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field Strong working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP schedules, job costing, project forecasting, and cost-to-complete concepts Understanding of the construction project lifecycle, including budgeting, commitments, change management, billing, forecasting, cost control, and project closeout Experience reviewing project financial performance and working directly with project managers and operations personnel Hands-on proficiency with Sage 100 Contractor and/or Sage Intacct preferred Experience with Procore or similar construction project management software preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis Familiarity with AIA billing, schedules of values, retainage, lien waivers, and subcontractor compliance requirements Familiarity with construction contracts, insurance requirements, and bonding concepts preferred Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting is a plus CPA or active progress toward CPA licensure is a plus Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate financial information effectively to both accounting and operational audiences Ideal Candidate Traits Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and accountability Comfortable taking ownership of project financials from setup through closeout Confident working independently while knowing when financial risks should be escalated Able to constructively question project assumptions and investigate inconsistencies Strong business partner who can build credibility with project managers and operations teams Organized and capable of managing multiple project deadlines and priorities Team-oriented with a service mindset toward project managers and field personnel Comfortable mentoring junior staff while continuing to learn and take direction from the Controller Interested in improving processes rather than simply maintaining existing practices Why Join Us This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of project accounting and financial performance for a growing commercial roofing platform within the Skybound Service Partners family of brands.
