An Accountant organizes and maintains financial records and prepares financial statements for companies and organizations. Works as a public accountant (prepares financial documents where public disclosure is required by law, such as business balance sheets and tax returns), management accountant (prepares financial information for internal use by a company) or government accountant (maintains records for government agencies).
Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Staff Accountant / Office Manager to join our tax and accounting practice. This position plays a vital role in both client accounting services and the day-to-day management of the office. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a small team environment, takes initiative, provides exceptional client service, and is comfortable handling a variety of accounting and administrative responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accounting and Tax Services Prepare bookkeeping for small business clients using QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online. Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts. Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements. Process payroll and payroll tax filings. Prepare sales and use tax returns. Assist with the preparation of individual, partnership, S corporation, and corporate income tax returns. Organize client tax documents and maintain electronic workpapers. Communicate with clients to obtain information needed for tax and accounting engagements. Assist with tax notices and other client correspondence. Maintain accurate and confidential client records. Office Management Oversee daily operations of the office to ensure efficiency and professionalism. Spearhead staff implementation and continued development of SOP's. Assist with onboarding new clients and maintaining TaxDome CRM/Client Portal. Support partners with projects and workflow management during tax season. Prepare engagement letters, client organizers, and other administrative documents. Help to recruit and manage seasonal interns during tax season. Client Service Serve as a friendly and professional point of contact for client accounts. Assist clients with secure document uploads and electronic signatures. Respond promptly to client inquiries by phone and email. Build strong working relationships by providing responsive and courteous service. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or tax preparation experience. Experience working in a CPA, tax, or public accounting firm preferred. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Preferred Qualifications Payroll processing experience.
