JOB FUNCTION
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. This role plays a critical part in day-to-day accounting operations and provides support for financial reporting and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Prepare and post journal entries for routine and adjusting transactions Perform account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, and income statement accounts) Assist with quarter end and year end close processes Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, as needed Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies or variances Assist in preparing financial reports and analysis for management Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 2-4 years of accounting or relevant finance experience Analytical and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, or similar functions) CPA designation preferred
LOCATION
This position will be based out of the Fareway Corporate Headquarters in Johnston, Iowa. EOE
