Type:

full-time Mostly remote role- 2 day in office per week. Our client is looking for a Cost Accountant to join our Client's Finance Department. You'll be responsible for performing cost analyses and preparing budget reports. You should possess excellent analytical skills along with the ability to combine different data and calculate profit margins. Our ideal candidate should also be able to create detailed reports that present cost-effective solutions for our company.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Review and analyze standard costs and variances.
  • Review job costs (bill of materials) before closing jobs to catch errors before they become margin questions.
  • Identify and research trends in material and labor costs and expenses.
  • Prepare analysis of revenue variances - price, volume, and mix analysis.
  • Analyze actual cost to standards and budget and forecast.
  • Monitor inventory and labor recording activities to ensure proper reporting of production costs.
  • Prepare month-end analysis of inventory, manufacturing productivity & variances.
  • Full support of 3-day month-end close including analysis of standard cost and gross margin.
  • Inventory and cost-related journal entries.
  • Assist with analyzing performance to operating plans and building the annual budget.
  • Cost absorption analysis and forecasting.
  • Monitor cycle count program to ensure accounting guidelines are being followed.
  • Prepares general ledger reconciliations and SOX-required documentations.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal controls. Assist in internal and external audit activities (cost, inventory and other areas as needed).
  • Year-end standard cost revaluation.
  • Buildup MTD cost and margin analysis by SKU to support monthly forecast and notify of course correction needed.
  • Analysis of excess and obsolescence inventory reserve.
  • Lead annual physical inventory of all locations.
  • Fixed assets maintenance and annual physical review.
  • Handle special projects as requested by management.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree Required
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Displays knowledge of manufacturing accounting and possesses exceptional accounting skills.
  • Analytical skills - strong desire to understand what is behind the numbers.
  • Exhibits strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology.
  • Possesses exceptional organizational skills and is an effective time manager and multi-tasker.
  • Displays the ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has a working knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting standards.
