certified general contractor with over four decades of collective experience in residential remodeling and new construction throughout the Chicago-land and Louisiana areas. We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a part-time basis. About the Role The Staff Accountant will support the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate record-keeping, timely reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This role requires someone who is organized, self-directed, and comfortable working within a construction industry environment. Key Responsibilities Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes Prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, and payment applications Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger entries Assist with job costing, budget tracking, and project financial reporting Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax requirements Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audits Coordinate with project managers to track contract values, change orders, and billing milestones Assist with annual budget preparation and cash flow forecasting Required Certifications & Licenses Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA or CPA-candidate preferred but not required Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Foundation) is a plus Qualifications Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or contracting industry. Strong understanding of GAAP and job cost accounting principles. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Schedule & Compensation Part-time:
approximately 20-25 hours per week (flexible scheduling available).
Hourly rate:
$28-$40/hour, commensurate with experience.
