We are looking for a Staff Accountant in Elgin, IL who demonstrates this mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference in the community. What you will be doing? Responsible for monthly general ledger close according to Finance Department checklist, including preparation of standard monthly journal entries and accruals. Monthly analysis of general journal accounts and research of variances. Monthly program allocations, reconciliations and report distributions to departments, Board and Board Finance Committee. Monthly Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets analysis and reconciliation. Work with A/P, A/R and HUD personnel to learn their procedures to perform departmental work. Respond to AID staff questions/inquiries/notifications on any related matters. Familiar with State of Illinois payments and confirmation procedures with State personnel in Springfield. Works with outside auditors on fieldwork for annual audit. Must learn all phases of Finance Department work. Other tasks and projects as assigned by AVP of Finance. Essential Job Responsibilities Proficiency in all modules of accounting software (Sage Intacct) Learns all phases of monthly accounting cycle as well as all tasks in Finance Department. Must be able to fill in for any staff.
Examples of tasks:
Handles all aspects of month-end close, including regular and repetitive journal entries, account analysis, A/P, A/R, and Fixed Asset reports and reconciliations with General Ledger Perform or supervise: reconciliation of monthly bank statements, remote bank deposits, code and post deposits to A/R and G/L, process invoices in A/P, generate A/P checks, generate recurring A/P and A/R entries Prepare monthly financial statements for all entities. Familiar with billing and reimbursement procedures of the State of Illinois in order to process and apply payments to correct programs. Timely completion of all responsibilities Timely responses to AID staff questions/inquiries/notifications Prepares schedules and work papers for Audit Personnel as required. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience:
Familiarity with computerized accounting systems with Sage Intacct experience preferred, general office experience.
Physical:
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, including prolonged periods of sitting at a computer, occasional standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 20 lbs.), as required to complete work assignments.
