Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Church Bookkeeper/Accountant to manage the financial records and accounting functions of our faith community. This vital role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and the smooth operation of all monetary transactions. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for nonprofit financial management, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and proficiency with various accounting software, including Quickbooks Desktop. Join us to contribute to the financial health and transparency of our church, supporting its mission and community outreach efforts. Responsibilities Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks Desktop Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation to ensure data integrity. Reconcile bank statements regularly through bank reconciliation processes to verify account balances. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently, ensuring timely payments and collections. Make weekly deposits of checks and cash. Prepare detailed financial reports, including monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Oversee payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and accurate employee compensation records. Assist with budgeting and expense tracking to support church planning. Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations relevant to nonprofit organizations. Support internal audits of financial transactions and maintain meticulous documentation for transparency. Support year-end closing activities, including preparing for audits and compiling necessary documentation. Qualifications Proven experience in corporate or nonprofit accounting, with a strong background in public accounting preferred. Proficiency in QuickBooks. Solid understanding of GAAP standards, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation. Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and tax regulations applicable to nonprofit organizations. Experience with bank reconciliation, and journal entries. Familiarity with payroll processing systems and tax compliance requirements. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks accurately under deadlines. Basic typing skills (10 key typing) for data entry tasks; excellent communication skills are a plus.
Pay:
$25,000.00 - $27,500.00 per yearBenefits:
