Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a real estate and property organization in Oak Brook, Illinois in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position plays a key role in delivering reliable financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and helping drive an efficient month-end close process. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting judgment, a solid foundation in reconciliations and journal entries, and the ability to collaborate across teams to support accurate and timely financial results.
Responsibilities:
  • Produce monthly financial statements and supporting schedules with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Record and review general ledger activity, including journal entries affecting balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Lead monthly account and bank reconciliations to verify completeness, resolve discrepancies, and maintain clean financial records.
  • Partner with corporate and property accounting teams to analyze fluctuations, investigate variances, and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Contribute to the month-end close cycle by coordinating deadlines, organizing workflows, and helping ensure deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Prepare audit support materials and assist external auditors by providing organized documentation and clear financial explanations.
  • Strengthen internal controls by documenting accounting procedures, refining processes, and recommending practical improvements where needed.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to accounting staff through work review, task prioritization, and coordination of team activities.
  • Participate in special accounting initiatives and cross-functional projects that support operational and financial objectives.
