Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to join a growing corporate accounting team. This is a highly visible role for an accounting professional who brings a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, SOX/internal controls, and M&A-related accounting . The Senior Corporate Accountant will play an important role in the monthly and quarterly close process while supporting acquisition activity, technical accounting matters, financial reporting, and ongoing improvements to accounting processes and controls. The position offers exposure beyond traditional general ledger accounting and is well suited for someone looking to broaden their experience within a dynamic corporate environment. This role will require you to work in the Oak Brook office 3 days per week. Key Responsibilities Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes , ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with
U.S. GAAP.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting financial schedules. Assist with accounting for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions , including purchase accounting, opening balance sheet activities, and integration of acquired businesses. Support technical accounting research and documentation related to complex or non-routine transactions. Maintain and strengthen SOX controls and other internal controls over financial reporting. Prepare documentation and testing support for internal and external audit requirements. Partner with Finance, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and other business functions on accounting and reporting matters. Assist with consolidation activities and corporate financial reporting. Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and provide meaningful explanations to management. Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and streamline accounting processes while maintaining appropriate controls. Support integration efforts following acquisitions, including aligning accounting policies, processes, systems, and reporting requirements. Assist with special projects and other corporate accounting initiatives as the organization continues to grow. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field . Approximately 3-6+ years of progressive accounting experience . Strong working knowledge of
U.S. GAAP
. Experience working within a SOX-controlled environment and understanding of internal controls over financial reporting. Exposure to M&A transactions, acquisition accounting, purchase accounting, or post-acquisition integration strongly preferred. Public accounting experience and/or experience within a publicly traded or larger corporate environment is highly desirable. CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus. Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems. Ability to research and analyze complex accounting issues and communicate conclusions clearly. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
