POSITION SUMMARY
: Furst-McNess Company is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role is responsible for preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, assisting with the month-end close process, and supporting financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and able to work collaboratively across departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
: Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other routine accounting transactions Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including supporting schedules and account analysis Support financial reporting by preparing reports, analyses, and variance explanations Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with company policies and accounting standards Support internal and external audit requests by gathering and organizing required documentation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research and resolve accounting-related issues Identify and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls Ensure compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed asset, and other accounting functions as needed Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 2+ years of Staff Accountant experience required Knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, and financial reporting Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality Effective written and verbal communication skills CPA eligibility, CPA pursuit, or related professional development is a plus Maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
