Job Description

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting activities and help maintain reliable financial information for the organization. This position is based in Rosemont, Illinois, and is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a steady approach to meeting deadlines. The role will contribute to close activities, reconciliations, reporting support, and ongoing process improvements across the accounting function.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the accuracy of general ledger activity by recording, reviewing, and organizing financial transactions.
  • Complete recurring reconciliations for bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other assigned ledgers, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles by preparing entries, schedules, and related documentation.
  • Record journal entries for accruals, prepaid items, reclasses, and other standard accounting adjustments.
  • Evaluate transaction details to ensure amounts are posted correctly and aligned with the appropriate accounts.
  • Provide assistance with payables and receivables tasks when coverage or workflow demands require additional support.
  • Prepare account analyses, supporting schedules, and backup documentation for reporting and audit readiness.
  • Contribute to financial reporting, budgeting support, and variance review by gathering data and summarizing results.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors by supplying requested records and explaining account activity.
  • Recommend practical improvements to accounting procedures, internal controls, and operational efficiency where opportunities are identified.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
  • One to three years of accounting experience, including internship experience where applicable.
  • Working knowledge of core accounting principles and general ledger processes.
  • Experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheet-based analysis.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and financial systems.
  • Exposure to corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
