Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled, experienced cost accountant to join our organization. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the organization. The cost accountant will review existing purchases, record data, recommend new cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options, and oversee purchasing costs. You will also work across teams to present and translate important financial information and assist in company audits. Responsibilities Oversee cash flow reports; ensure accurate payments made in timely manner. Administer proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense account and inventory records. Analyze expense reports and invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment. Reconcile accounts payable total and general ledger with other applicable records. Assist with monthly inventory. Ensure proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits. Collect employer identification numbers to prepare and submit 1099 forms. Ensure proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits. Gather and compile cost information and maintain accounting systems. Develop systems and procedures for accumulation systems and/or cost accounting functions. Predict, plan, and record variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs. Review and analyze actual costs to identify inaccuracies. Review, analyze, and report actual profit margins. Assist with month-end and year-end closings. Determine and recommend cost-effective solutions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software Familiarity with SAGE 300 or other similar accounting software. Thorough understanding of accounting procedures. Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Ability to manage confidential information. Ability to work independently.
