Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial health and integrity of our organization through meticulous accounting practices and insightful financial analysis. As an integral part of our team, you will manage a variety of accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support strategic financial decision-making. Your expertise will help us maintain accurate financial records, streamline processes, and uphold the highest standards of financial integrity. Responsibilities Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements. Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end closing processes. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing and accuracy. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations regularly to verify account accuracy. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to inform strategic planning. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal audits and external audits as needed. Maintain expertise in technical accounting topics such as SEC reporting, securities law, governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, and corporate finance. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for daily operations. Assist in regulatory reporting requirements and prepare detailed financial reports for management review. Mentor junior team members by sharing best practices in accounting procedures and software utilization. Skills Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting standards. Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or equivalent systems. Experience with technical accounting areas such as securities law, governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, and corporate finance. Expertise in double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare comprehensive financial reports. Skilled in financial report writing, financial statement preparation, cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management. Familiarity with tax regulations and experience with tax filings is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Effective mentoring abilities to support team development within a collaborative environment. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes.
