Bulldog Battery Corporation (Bulldog) is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company that manufactures and distributes industrial batteries used in forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, locomotive diesel starting, explosion-proof batteries, and more. Our employee-owners take pride in building the highest quality reputation in the industry . Each battery that leaves our 187,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facilities undergo extensive testing, including full discharge and equalization. We pride ourselves on our rapid order delivery . While the world struggles with supply-chain shortages and delays, Bulldog Battery has integrated each step of the manufacturing process in-house. Competitor lead times are backlogged more than 12 weeks, whereas we typically ship within two and strive for a one-week ship date. We lead the way when it comes to industrial batteries. Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Cost Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with executive leadership and plant management to understand, control, and report on production costs and inventory. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own standard costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost analysis, and will identify variances, implement cost standards for materials and labor, and assist in budget and forecasting activities. The right candidate is a self-directed learner who wants ownership of processes end-to-end and is comfortable operating with limited supervision. Job Responsibilities Review and track all raw and scrap material transactions including reconciling at monthly closing. Review of inventory transactions and ledger postings to ensure accuracy of inventory and product costing. Manage month-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and adjustments. Prepare various financial analysis related to manufacturing costs and expense information for various product SKUs as needed for operational support. Perform standard cost and variance analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Prepare estimates of new and proposed product costs. Set up new raw material and FG product costs, maintain periodic cost rolls updates. Perform periodic Cycle Counts and time studies to ensure accuracy of inventory & machine centers. Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS). Represent Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, etc. Establishes plant presence and constantly analyzing processes to implement positive change. Maintains fixed assets.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Minimum 3 years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience presenting financial information to non-financial audiences (plant leadership, sales, executives). Strong written communication skills across a variety of settings, including business correspondence and reporting. Takes initiative, meets deadlines, and manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent business ethics and integrity, cost-conscious. Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS).
