Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a team in Leawood, Kansas in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is well suited for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage core close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and support reporting with confidence. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activity in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead key elements of the monthly close process to ensure financial results are recorded accurately and delivered on schedule.
  • Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Maintain and review general ledger activity, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Complete account reconciliations across balance sheet and related accounts to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and investigate variances to confirm cash activity is properly reflected.
  • Analyze financial statements and underlying account activity to highlight trends, exceptions, and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions, reporting needs, and leadership requests.
  • Assist with audit preparation by organizing schedules, reconciling supporting records, and responding to documentation needs.
