As our organization continues to expand, we are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. Position Overview The Accountant will support the financial operations of Heartland Capital Investments and its affiliated companies. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-company environment and wants the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to a successful organization. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes. Prepare and analyze financial statements for multiple affiliated companies. Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and balance sheet accounts. Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting initiatives. Identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and recommend improvements. Assist with external audits, tax preparation, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with management and operational teams to provide meaningful financial information. Help improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude. Preferred 2-5 years of accounting experience. Experience with multiple legal entities or intercompany accounting. Experience in manufacturing, financing, or multi-location businesses. Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements. CPA certification or progress toward certification is a plus, but not required.
