Accountant / Full-Charge Bookkeeper Direct Hire- Full-Time

THE OPPORTUNITY A
well-established, privately held Baton Rouge real estate development and property management company with multiple entities and affiliated business interests is seeking an Accountant / Full-Charge Bookkeeper for a direct-hire opportunity. This is a key, trusted role for someone who can independently own the full accounting cycle across several companies — from journal entries and general ledger through balance sheet — in a busy, high-transaction environment that includes active development projects. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, QuickBooks-proficient accountant who works with minimal oversight, keeps meticulous books, and thrives in a small, collaborative office. Given the sensitive nature of the work, reliability, discretion, and trustworthiness are essential.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently manage full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping for multiple related companies
- Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate debits and credits across a high volume of accounts
- Prepare and maintain balance sheets and financial records for each entity
- Manage accounts payable and receivable and stay ahead of payment and filing due dates
- Prepare and file sales tax and manage related compliance
- Accurately record and reconcile complex, high-volume transactions in QuickBooks
- Support property and rental accounting across the company's real estate holdings and active projects
- Partner with the company's outside CPA on year-end close, reporting, and tax preparation
- Provide general administrative support around the office as needed in a small-team environment
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Solid, demonstrated understanding of accounting fundamentals — general ledger, journal entries, debits and credits, and balance sheet preparation
- Proven experience independently managing full-cycle books, ideally across multiple entities
- High proficiency in QuickBooks, with the judgment to record transactions correctly
- Experience with sales tax filing and accounts payable/receivable management
- Highly organized and deadline-driven, able to manage many accounts without missing details
- Exceptional reliability, discretion, and trustworthiness handling sensitive company and owner financials
- Comfortable in a small office and willing to pitch in on administrative tasks
