Join us and experience the difference a true community bank can make. Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will support the bank's accounting functions by managing financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and assisting with various accounting processes. Your contributions will help maintain the integrity of our financial data and support the bank's ongoing success. Position Summary Primary responsibility is to manage the accounts payable function, to perform routine general accounting / bookkeeping duties, provide administration support to the accounting department, and to perform other accounting related projects as requested. Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the accounts payable function
  • Log and index bank wire transactions for records retention
  • Process and distribute a variety of reports on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Provide administrative support for the Chief Financial Officer and the Controller
  • Perform document preparation and spreadsheet creation as needed for the accounting department
  • Run bank specific reports from the Bank's core system, such as past-due reports, ATM adjustment reports, card management reports, and other reports as needed
  • Performs daily/weekly/monthly general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accurate processing and posting of all account entries.
  • Performs routine transaction specific posting activities to the general ledger
  • Maintain the Bank's Fixed Asset register
  • Perform research as needed for the accounting department and during bank audits / examinations
  • Sort and distribute mail
  • Process return mail
  • Prepare and send forms to vendors as needed.
  • Prepare and send out shareholder& board information
  • Oversee supply needs and orders for assigned departments
  • Process employee expense reports
  • Consistently supports the Bank and its core values
  • Follow all policies and procedures
  • Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completed college level core accounting courses / college graduate in accounting preferred
  • 2+ years of accounts payable, bookkeeping, general accounting, clerical, or administrative experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with general accounting software
  • Knowledge and experience with bank core processing software preferred
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, fixed assets, and general ledger accounting
  • General math, accounting, and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF document applications
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to operate a computer and navigate software
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions, comprehend training, and adapt to changes Benefits
