Job Description

AMERISAFE
is seeking a detail-oriented, productivity driven professional to add to our Excellence Team based in DeRidder, LA. The intern will be responsible for a wide range of activities relating to financial accounting and reporting of a publicly traded insurance company to include, but not limited to, reconciliation of expenses and accruals; entry of general journal transactions; support of Statutory and GAAP accounting and financial statement preparation; support of tax and compliance reporting and compilation of data and reporting for Statutory and GAAP filings. This is a part time position for the purpose of giving college students who are pursuing a degree in a business-related field an opportunity to gain valuable insurance industry and accounting experience as well as receive an introduction to AMERISAFE, a leading high risk workers compensation company. Upon an offer and acceptance of employment with AMERISAFE, you will be required to complete our pre-employment screening, which includes a criminal background check, a 10-panel drug test and, if applicable, a review of your motor vehicle report. A 10-panel drug test includes amphetamine/methamphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine metabolite (BZE), marijuana metabolite (THCA), methadone, methaqualone, codeine/morphine, phencyclidine, propoxyphene. Qualifications Currently enrolled in college program to obtain a bachelor s degree in accounting or business Working knowledge of applicable personal computing technologies, including MS Excel, MS Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat and MS Outlook email Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communications skills-written and verbal. Must communicate with co-workers and Management in a courteous and professional manner Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet financial reporting and other project deadlines Highly organized style, with demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently Proven ability to work closely with others in a team-oriented environment Must be detail oriented Maintain prompt and regular attendance Abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions that are given by Management Foster the

culture by embracing the pillars of consistency, focus, frugality, ownership, and service Responsibilities Reconciliation of expenses, accruals, and account activity Compilation and reporting of data required for Statutory and GAAP compliance Preparation of tax forms to include income tax, premium tax and/or sales tax Support preparation of financial statements and related documents, as required Maintain Sox compliance and internal controls Other duties as assigned
