(1)CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
This employment list will also be used for futureEAST AND WEST
Jefferson vacancies in various Departments as they occur.Entry-level, professional accounting position involving the maintenance of general ledgers, journals, etc., and the preparation of financial records and reports in accordance with established policies and procedures. Employees in this class may be required to interpret regulations and recommend procedures for maintaining and processing fiscal records. May perform auditing duties. May supervise clerical staff engaged in accounting duties. For the current vacancy in Department of Community Development, the position performs a variety of complex, professional level accounting duties involving the accounting, recording, reporting and auditing of financial transactions involved with CDBG-DR, CDBG, HOME and ESG. May be required to interpret regulations and recommend procedures for processing and maintaining fiscal records. Performs professional level fiscal analysis research accounting, budget preparation and administrative work relating to CDBG-DR, CDBG, HOME and ESG. Coordinates several functions of grant funds administration, reviews sub recipient proposals, monitors, compliance and insures proper accounting procedures. The position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference. Meets one of the following two options: I. Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with at least eighteen (18) credit hours of accounting coursework. OR II. Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status as an Account Clerk III or Account Clerk II-Central Finance Office, with at least two (2) years of experience working in that capacity; plus, possession of an Associate's degree from an accredited college with at least eighteen (18) credit hours of accounting coursework. (Proof of education is required in the form of a college transcript). Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.
