Michoud Assembly Facility The Senior Accountant will support the Controller by ensuring accurate financial data is maintained, timely financial statements are produced, and regulatory requirements are met. The primary focus of this position is driving a timely and accurate month-end closing process. While exposure to aerospace compliance (DCAA/CAS) is highly desired, we are willing to train a strong technical manufacturing accountant. We are a high growth company, and this role will have the opportunity to define best practices for success.

Core Accounting Operations:

• Perform reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies.
• Revenue recognition in coordination with program finance
• Review transactions to ensure correct classification of expenses
• Drive timely and accurate closing processes, preparing supporting schedules.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries (accruals, reclassifications, intercompany) and ensure accurate transaction recording.
• Collaborate on accounting policy and procedure updates with new system integrations.

Additional Accounting Operations:

• Assist with inventory, project accounting and budget related requests
• Assist with fixed assets, prepaids, intangible assets and other balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with 13-week cash flow preparation
• Assist in preparing for internal and external audits
• Coordinate physical inventory counts, cycle counting schedules, and material burden adjustments.
• Reconcile inventory, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and finished goods sub-legers to the general ledger monthly.
• Analyze manufacturing variances including labor efficiency, material usage, and overhead absorption.
• Execute job-costing, project accounting, and transactional processing within Epicor.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting (manufacturing, project/cost accounting preferred)
• Proven history of meeting tight deadlines and driving acceleration in the month-end close process
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Intermediate MS Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
• High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• CPA, MBA or advanced degree preferred
• Epicor or other ERP experience preferred
• Exposure to government contract regulations (FAR, DFARS, CAS, etc) preferred
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
