Payroll Accountant Location:
Scott, LA Keeper of the Ledger. Tamer of the Tiny Errors. We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator / Payroll Accountant to oversee the full payroll process while supporting payroll-related accounting activities. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely employee pay, maintaining payroll records, performing reconciliations, preparing journal entries, and supporting compliance with payroll tax and reporting requirements. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred. Experience Requirements 3-5+ years of payroll and accounting experience. Experience processing full-cycle payroll. Knowledge of payroll taxes, benefits administration, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting. Experience with payroll and accounting software. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality. Experience with multi-state payroll environments preferred. CPP or FPC certification preferred. Experience with QuickBooks and ADP preferred. Job Duties Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees. Process payroll adjustments, off-cycle payrolls, and manual checks. Review employee time, attendance, overtime, commissions, bonuses, and deductions. Prepare payroll journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records. Reconcile payroll accounts, general ledger accounts, payroll taxes, and benefits deductions. Coordinate payroll tax filings, W-2 processing, and compliance reporting. Reconcile health insurance and employee benefit invoices. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities. Support audits and provide payroll documentation as needed. Identify process improvements and maintain payroll procedures and internal controls. Respond to payroll-related employee inquiries and resolve discrepancies. Preferred Qualifications Previous accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or office administration experience is preferred. Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar business systems is beneficial. Knowledge of general accounting principles, financial recordkeeping, or reconciliation procedures is considered an asset. Individuals who demonstrate professionalism, dependability, accuracy, and strong organizational skills are well positioned for success as a Payroll Accountant. Physical Capabilities Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to review financial documents and enter data accurately. Ability to occasionally lift office materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to perform normal office duties while maintaining attention to detail throughout the workday.
