full-time Company Linear Retail Properties is a leading acquirer, owner and operator of retail properties in New England with a focus on eastern Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and eastern Rhode Island. Linear owns 67 retail properties including convenience-oriented strip shopping centers, specialty storefront retail in select downtown neighborhoods, smaller, well-located centers in dominant retail destination corridors, net leased single tenant retail properties and urban retail condominiums. Property accounting is outsourced to a third-party property manager. The company is backed by a multi-billion-dollar investor which has invested in Linear for over 20+ years. As such, capital formation is extremely stable. Summary Linear Retail is seeking an organized, intellectually curious and driven Staff Accountant to join our company. The Staff Accountant position reports to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting administration at the Company. We are looking for an inquisitive individual to join our organization to assist our Accounting team with maintaining and administering the corporate bookkeeping, preparing reconciliations and financial reports. Responsibilities We are seeking an individual who possesses a sharp attention to detail and organizational skills. The candidate will have impeccable integrity and high-quality standards. The primary job responsibilities are as follows:

  • Record and process corporate receipts.
  • Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, cash transactions, reclasses, and other entries. Process and code AP invoices for corporate entities, coordinate approvals, and assist with check runs.
  • Track & reconcile intercompany expenses and related reimbursements.
  • Prepare month -end bank reconciliations. Reconcile and maintain certain balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain internal controls, procedures and related documentation.
  • Partner with third-party property management accounting team to ensure accuracy and alignment with corporate accounting.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal asset managers.
  • Assist with: o Month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial closes. o Quarterly financial reports. o Preparation of support in connection with the annual external audit and bi-annual internal audit. o Preparation and issuance of annual IRS form 1099s to vendors. o Improvement/automation of systems and procedures. o Ad-hoc projects as needed. Skills and Qualifications
  • Recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Accounting.
  • Experience/knowledge of MRI, Yardi or other accounting system a plus.
  • Proficient with Excel and other MS Office Suite programs is desired.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
