SALARY:
$75,000 - $80,000 ORGANIZATIONAL
RELATIONSHIP OR LINE OF AUTHORITY
Reports to Assistant Superintendent Business & Finance
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, management, or other related field from an accredited college or university. Demonstrates competence in managerial accounting practices involving the installation, operation, and keeping of a large-scale chart of accounts. Hands on experience and a thorough working knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, general and fixed assets accounting, financial planning and administration of school or municipal finances. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Working knowledge of the use of computerized equipment for record keeping, data management, information retrieval, and visual presentations. District Accountant
REPORTS TO
Assistant Superintendent of Business & Finance
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent Business & Finance, the District Accountant is responsible for supporting all accounting functions related to the business operations of the Marshfield Public Schools, supporting outstanding programming while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Fiscal Budget:
Assists with the preparation, presentation, monitoring, and reporting of the annual school department operating and capital budgets Manages the collection, recording, and dissemination of all information related to the payment of fees charged in the district, including student user fees, student activity accounts, student fundraising, and program tuitions Coordinates reconciliation of revolving, special revenue accounts, expenditures and encumbrances with the Town of Marshfield Assists in reconciliation of State and Federal Grants with grant managers and Town of Marshfield Coordinates and performs all general billing and invoicing functions of the District Prepares end-of-year Department of Elementary and Secondary Education financial reports by preparing necessary schedules and pulling supporting documentation Assists independent auditors with information and documentation as required for annual audit functions. Creates administrative and school committee reports, as needed Serves as backup for Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Human Resources functions
Insurance:
Processes all property and vehicle insurance claims
Facility Permits:
Manages automated facility scheduling and billing
